In 2013 there were…33 Million Monarchs, and 2016 was the WORST YEAR EVER!
A probable 90% drop in Monarch numbers brings us to . . . our call to ACTION to fix this plight!
After all, It Is Our State Insect!
The monarch has become a spiritual symbol for many. Lots of people remember clouds of monarchs from childhoods past. Loss of this particular butterfly would be devastating, especially when Education will make all the difference in the world for its preservation.
All a monarch wants is to find a milkweed plant to lay its 200 or so eggs on. The plants used to grow abundantly in Illinois and can again. EDUCATION is imperative to this effort.
Here in Illinois we do not see tigers or elephants to help but we Can help Monarch Butterflies. A little education, milkweed seed and milkweed plants will bring Monarch Butterflies back from the brink of extinction.
All a Monarch Wants Is a Milkweed Plant
Monarch Butterflies only lay their 200 or so eggs on Milkweed Plants!! These plants used to grow abundantly, and have been largely wiped out by farming and development. We can help correct that and bring Monarchs back from near extinction!
